A little bit about me: I'm 57 years old, 340 pounds, and I play pickleball an average of five to six times a week. Thanks to my Apple Watch (lol), I know I'm logging around two hours a night of consistent play. Coming home with that much impact and pain in my ankles and metatarsals can be discouraging, especially if I want to get back out there the next day.
Intense recovery is the only way I can keep going, with foot massages, stretching, and different exercises. But I'm always searching for the perfect shoe. And I've tried them all. My last pair, what I thought would be the best, were just basic Nike court shoes. Decent, but not good enough. I tried so many different types of shoes. None worked. I mean, I could play, but the foot pain at my weight and age was tough.
Then, scrolling through Instagram a few days ago, I saw a shoe designed specifically for pickleball. I thought, okay, I'll try it. They arrived today. Right out of the box, I could tell they were different, and I was excited. As I walked to the car and packed my equipment, I felt the difference.
At my first game, I felt light on my feet. I only played about an hour and a half tonight because I got a late start. But I cannot wait to get back out there. I'm still in recovery from the past three days with bad shoes, but now that I have these great shoes, I'm ready to hit the court again.
